Creation or Evolution?

Does it even matter? Well, I submit to you that it does. There are a few basic camps of thinking when it comes to the Evolution/Creation debate. Some people think that Evolution is proven science and Creation is just faith and religion. Others think that God used evolution to create the world. And still others believe in a biblical, six literal days creation. There are certainly other ideas or a combination of some but those are typically the most common thoughts on the matter.
But why does it really matter? I mean, we’re here aren’t we? So, whether we just got lucky on the evolutionary scale or maybe some higher being in the sky decided to make us and then went on his merry way. Who cares?
If you fall into the camp of someone who thinks that evolution is proven science. I challenge you to look into it further. Do some research. There are many scientists in various fields that believe in a six-day creation. In fact, many of the scientists that now believe in a biblical six-day creation were once staunch supporters of and believers in long ages of evolution. Carl Kerby of Reasons For Hope Ministries suggests that when you’re reading or watching evolutionary material, pay attention to how many times the presenter says “we think” or “we believe” and statements along those lines.
If you fall into the camp of someone who is a follower of Christ and you believe that God used millions of years to create our world, aren’t you already good to go and how He did it doesn’t really matter? Maybe it does matter. Here’s why, the Bible teaches that sin came into the world through Adam and Eve, and death through sin. If Adam and Eve weren’t real people, or were real but evolved, and there were millions of years of animals dying and evolving and survival of the fittest, then doesn’t it follow that death was here long before mankind ever arrived on the scene?
What does that do to the gospel message that all men and women need a savior in Jesus Christ, because all have sinned and the penalty of sin is death? Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” But if death preceded people and is just part of the evolutionary way, then is God a liar? As the Apostle Paul would say, “Certainly not!”
And, did you know that Jesus, Himself, believed that the Genesis account of creation was factual and historical? Matt. 19: 3-6 – creation of man and woman, Matt. 24: 37-39 – Noah’s flood. These are just a couple of examples. Not only that, but the Bible is filled from cover to cover with scripture that talks about the act of creation. If you believe the whole Bible, then I challenge you to become more educated about the science behind Biblical Creation.
Creation Corner will be here to share information about God’s awesome creation and how that builds a solid foundation for the whole Bible. There is plenty of scientific evidence that points to a literal six-day creation. Check it out for yourself.
